The Tour of Crete is a non-competitive cycling event which will take place in 6 stages, with start and finish line in the city of Heraklion, Crete. The cyclosportive will be ridden and timed on roads open to public traffic. The Tour of Crete is organized by CRETAN MTB TRAILS with the technical support of CRETAN SPORTS CYCLING.
The event is NON-COMPETITIVE and defined as being an amateur cycling trip.
The cyclosportive is open to every passionate cyclist, with or without official racing license as long as they are over the age of 18 on the day of their participation. Participation in the Tour of Crete implies accepting all Terms and Conditions fully, with no reserve.
Registration can be submitted exclusively on the Tour of Crete website or through licensed travel agents. Timely registrations (“Early Bird”, “Advanced”) will benefit from respective discounts.
Jersey numbers must be picked up at the welcome hotel in Heraklion one day before the the start of the event. Participants are obligated to come in person to pick up the jersey number. No jersey numbers will be sent by post.
For the smooth operation of the Tour of Crete, only road bicycles which comply with the UCI standards are allowed to participate. Participants must appear at the starting line using mandatory equipment as detailed below.
- Hard-shell cycling helmet must be worn during all the 6 stages of the Tour of Crete.
- Hydration System in form of bottles or hydration sac.
- Bicycle’s braking systems have to be serviced and fully operational.
Tour of Crete volunteers will be guarding the event peloton during all 6 stages on motorcycles, cars and on supervised crossroad sections. The event will be run on open roads with public traffic mitigated with the authorization of the national police. Every cyclist is required to obey all local traffic laws for his own safety and that of the other riders.
With respect to the environment, it is strictly forbidden to leave leftovers and rubbish on the event course. You are expected to withhold any litter on you or your bike until a proper place of disposal has been found. Rubbish bins will be placed at your disposal at the feedzones along the event course.
The organizers disclaim all responsibility in case of theft, damage, or loss of personal belongings of participants or of personal injury during the event. It is therefore the role and responsibility of each participant, to take out insurance covering these risks.
Through participation in the Tour of Crete, each participant authorizes expressly the organizer or his permitted assigned agents to use or reproduce publicly any names, images, voice recordings, interviews or athletic performances within the framework of the Tour of Crete event.
